About Me
I am a visual creator who pushes into unproven UI spaces by tackling challenges like creating a UI for Cannon Brawl, a single screen real time strategy game, as well as creating UI for alternative platforms including the Pebble and Sifteo. Currently I work as an independent game developer in San Francisco, California. My aim is to create delightful user interfaces and other player experiences for an innovative tech company.
Before starting an indie company, I worked for several years on the web team at Maxis where I developed my skills in front end design. Some of the game websites I've designed include Spore.com and Darkspore.com. My process started with wire frame mockups to flesh out the UX, rapid iterations on aesthetic designs in Photoshop, and follow through with implementation using JS, CSS, HTML, jQuery, and PHP. With the Spore, Sim City, Cannon Brawl and Darkspore websites I implemented API integration to load fresh content on dynamically populated pages. I developed style guides to keep a consistent look and feel that further instilled Maxis branding for each game. To execute my designs, I've worked with internal developers, managed outsource teams, and personally implemented these designs, depending on the scope of the project. I have a pixel-perfect sensibility with attention to detail especially across browsers and web platforms, creating CSS hierarchies to support any challenging web scenario from mobile to IE6 (oh IE6!). I'm also proficient with Flash and Actionscript 3 for UI prototyping.
